Your Responsibilities

As a Quality Engineer for John Deere Ottumwa Works, located in Ottumwa, Iowa, you will s upport the hay mowing specifically as the OFP Quality Engineer. In addition, you will:


  • Use data to investigate, contain, and resolve quality issues through root cause identification
  • Work with cross functional teams to design inherent quality validation into processes
  • Lead quality planning and execution discussions (PMFEA, Control Plan, Dimensional analysis, QIT) and maintain historical performance documentation and metrics for team
  • Lead and actively participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) - improving and implementing departmental Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Delivery, ergonomic improvement and cost reduction ideas.
  • Execute engineering workflow activities to support design and process changes

What Skills You Need


  • Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with salaried and wage personnel in a team environment
  • Experience with data analytics and using trends to make sound decisions.
  • A self-starter with the ability to execute multiple tasks in parallel with little supervision

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Work experience involving hands on use of quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, DPAR, PPAP, DMAIC, Six Sigma, and 8D Problem Solving
  • Knowledge of basic data analysis techniques. (e.g. pareto charts, histograms, pie and bar charts and control plans.)
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or five years equivalent work experience
