The eDiscovery Structured Data Discovery Project Manager II is responsible for performing and facilitating the research, identification, preservation, collection and delivery of structured data within pre-defined turnaround times. The Discovery Project Manager acts as a single point of contact for Legal case managers, application owners, information owners, and other business partners to provide process and operational guidance and support for litigation and regulatory requests for structured data.
The Discovery Project Manager will act as the primary point of contact across a portfolio of structured data requests as well as a key contact for questions related to structured data requests and processes and quality support. The Project Manager will need to utilize critical thinking skills and consider the needs of a wide array of stakeholders in order to drive results. The Project Manager will also work closely with the Structured Data Team, Management and Business Partners to identify and drive process improvements to the Structured Data Program.
Each Discovery Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that operational processes are defensible, efficient (productive), repeatable, standardized, and flexible to meet and deliver high quality results in a timely manner. In addition, each Discovery Project Manager demonstrates competencies in different eDiscovery tools, as assigned, and is expected to provide ongoing feedback on process improvement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Work as part of the eDiscovery operations team to fulfill requests in support of litigation or regulatory inquiries
Respond to and fulfill eDiscovery requests across various data sources, with a focus on structured data; additional sources may include electronic communications, voice, and unstructured data systems, among others
Provide subject matter expertise and guidance
Identify improvement opportunities and develop proposed solutions
Act as a liaison and central point of contact between the eDiscovery team and global systems and data center contacts, including but not limited to tape operations areas/data centers and 3rd parties, to manage various legal restoration and preservation requests
Coordinate with internal IT and business partners and external vendors in support of accurate, timely and defensible request fulfillment, including restoration of data with appropriate chain-of-custody documentation, where required
Act as primary contact on matter/project work while driving partners towards goals
Act as a project manager to support the continuous improvement of eDiscovery operational processes by coordinating both small and large projects
Maintain a level of understanding of the business uses for the systems from which data is being requested
Support the continuous improvement of eDiscovery operational processes globally, including request processing, research, preservation, collection, disposition, delivery, and quality control
Draft and/or review process management documentation
Maintain organized updates and detailed matter/project notes and documentation
Communicate and escalate issues and problems to case teams, manage expectations and track to resolution
Proactively support the maintenance and continuous improvement of controls requirements procedures
Anticipate, understand and proactively address questions related to fulfilling requests
Develop and communicate requirements for eDiscovery to IT and 3rd parties, including requirements gathering and partnerships with Product Owners
Participate in project and initiative teams
Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
Level of Experience / Qualifications :
4-7 years of experience in either hands-on eDiscovery preservation and collections or in IT L1, L2 Helpdesk or Desktop Support, Infrastructure, or IT project management or 3+ years of eDiscovery project management or litigation support at a consulting firm or top tier law firm
eDiscovery, EDRM (eDiscovery Reference Model), or litigation support related experience preferred
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Hands on experience as part of an eDiscovery project team
Deep understanding of eDiscovery review platforms
Understanding of firm change management processes and procedures (SDLC, etc.) and experience working in a secure environment with sensitive data, including PII a plus.
Familiar, knowledge/use or understanding of Legal chain-of-custody requirements, Regulatory processes and basic Federal Rules of Civil Procedure a plus
Self-motivated, organized, team oriented person, with the ability to resolve multiple confidential and/or sensitive, time-critical, and competing priorities and projects.
Organizational knowledge of JPMC or Financial Services a strong plus
Advanced PC and Microsoft skills in a Windows environment
Strong organizational skills and ability to track multiple workstreams
Effective communicator with a focus on customer satisfaction, quality, process, tools and people
Superior presentation skills required to provide status to key audience in a concise, informative and timely manner
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate issues to multiple parties of varying backgrounds and levels
Familiar, knowledge/use of eDiscovery Electronic Stored Information investigation, preservation, disposition, recovery and analysis of data from a variety of structured data systems, databases and/or applications
Familiar, knowledge/use of eDiscovery Electronic Stored Information investigation, preservation, disposition, recovery and analysis of data from a variety of electronic communication, voice and unstructured systems (e.g. MS Exchange, Connected Archive, Lotus Notes, Magnetic Tape, Enterprise Vault, NAS Storage, Hard Drives, Assentor, Digital Safe, NICE, Cisco, SharePoint) a plus
Familiar, knowledge/use of backup tape infrastructure (ArcServe, TSM, TDP, NetBackup) a plus
Self-starter; must be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
