Overview

Join a small team of individuals dedicated to supporting, enhancing, and growing our Elastic Stack environment. The Systems Administrator II will work in a Linux environment with a focus on the Elastic Stack (ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats) technology. Other technologies will frequently be used including Kafka, and Puppet. You will have a willingness to become an Elastic Stack expert, work with multiple stakeholders to analyze requirements, and bring a touch of creativity to the team.

The position is responsible for systems design, development, implementation, testing, and problem resolution with significant autonomy and independence. The scope of work includes small system implementations to participating on major system projects. Periodic mentoring, feedback, and supervision are provided by senior technical staff and management.

Responsibilities

    Designs, develops, implements, tests, and fixes defects in systems from overall designs prepared by senior staff under the periodic direction of a Senior Systems Administrator or higher
  • Independently resolves complex technical problems

  • Performs maintenance, administration, and capacity planning activities on systems to ensure continued reliability, performance, and security targets are met. Works independently

  • Maintains advanced knowledge of systems and tools within the scope of the team's responsibility. Maintains working knowledge of the business processes supported by the systems

  • Independently creates work estimates (effort and duration) of work assignments for inclusion into project plans

  • Actively participates in quality and continuous improvement initiatives with team members across the organization

Qualifications

Required Qualifications


  • Associate Degree (or higher) -OR- 2+ years' of professional work experience

  • 1+ years' system administration experience

Other Qualifications


  • Experience with Elastic Stack (ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats)

  • Experience with event streaming (Kafka)

  • Experience with Infrastructure Automation (Puppet)

  • Experience with Load Balancers

  • Experience with systems development methodologies, practices, and tools

  • Experience with system testing practices and tools

  • Experience with problem solving techniques and tools

  • Experience with business analysis practices and business process modeling

  • Ability to travel as needed for company business and professional developmen

  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for system implementations and resolving system problems
