OVERVIEW

CHA Consulting Inc. is currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Power - Environmental group in Albany, NY or Brooklyn, NY.

When it comes to environmental issues, the goal is always to minimize risk. CHA achieves this goal by having intimate knowledge of environmental regulations and properly assessing site conditions and applicable mitigation approaches. We understand your goals and clearly communicate with you through the course of your sensitive environmental project. We provide creative solutions to help clients investigate environmental problems, design cleanup solutions, and comply with regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Our Scientists are experts with the company's and client's methods, standard operating procedures, reporting templates, and practices. At CHA, our Scientists conduct field work and as a result, prepare information to be utilized by managers, colleagues, and clients. While in the office, our Scientists work on data analysis, reporting, and completion of permits alongside mentors.

Our Scientists play an important role in evaluating the potential impact of federal, state and local environmental regulations. CHA's Scientists also prepare critical information to be utilized in public information meetings and hearings.

Our Scientists collect samples, provide drilling oversight, and construction operation assistance. Our Scientists collect, analyze, and report on hazardous materials, geological, hydrological, biological or other scientific conditions at project sites to identify their impact on the environment.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

    Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or related field
  • Valid US driver's license is required

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • No prior experience required; however, candidates with 2 years of experience are preferred

  • Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn about the respective scientific discipline

  • Experience with Microsoft Word & Excel is required, AutoCAD experience a plus

  • NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector Certification

  • NYC Asbestos Investigator Certification a plus

  • NYSDOL Mold Assessor Certification a plus

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences

  • Strong ability to work in a team environment

  • Must have the ability to work in the field in different weather conditions

  • Must be able to physically navigate in the field
