Amerisure is currently recruiting for a Line of Business Underwriting Manager to support our Farmington Hills Headquarters. This role has the ability to sit remotely.The ideal candidate will also possess the following skill set. 

Summary Statement

The Line of Business Underwriting Manager will lead strategic direction of an individual (or multiple) lines of business to assist Amerisure in achieving growth and profit objectives. They will support Amerisure’s books of business through industry knowledge and data analysis to create and monitor underwriting strategies.  Also, ensure the line of business strategy is aligned with key business partners to achieve mutual success.

Essential Tasks/Major Duties


  • Lead the overall strategy for assigned lines of business, including Amerisure’s risk appetite, underwriting guidelines, opportunity identification, underwriting tools, objectives and key results, and book of business management.

  • Work closely with Industry Practices, Product Development, and field marketing staff to identify line of business needs and manage underwriting controls, risk appetite, and tools to support organization growth and profit goals. 

  • Support the Industry Practices, Product Development, and Risk Management teams in the creation of new product, form, and service to meet the needs of assigned lines of business

  • Analyze the impact on the company and recommend strategy or execution changes through monitoring of external factors such as competition, judicial, and regulatory decisions. 

  • Evaluate and make appropriate underwriting decisions on Amerisure’s lines of business that exceeds field authority and place facultative reinsurance as needed to protect the financial integrity of the company. 

  • Support underwriting training programs as subject matter expert and trainer.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work-related experience

  • 7 years commercial insurance experience

  • Insuring construction or manufacturing exposures a plus

  • Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.

  • Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively build relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • Experience influencing and collaborating at the executive level.

  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
