Job Description Summary

The Marketing Operations & QA Specialist is responsible for the precise, on time and accurate execution of marketing campaigns that acquire, engage, and retain digital and print subscribers across all California Times properties. These campaigns include a variety of digital marketing approaches such as on-site messaging for non-subscribers (using paywall modals, display ads, etc.) emails, social and search engine platforms. This person is also responsible for quality assurance of all marketing campaigns and targeting existing subscribers via upsell flows that help the overall revenue flow of digital acquisition and circulation across all California Times properties.

This individual is an accomplished self-starter who works well with others and is able to work in a fast pace environment bringing all marketing and circulation teams to execute and achieve goals on any given project. This individual will manage campaigns across all California Times properties.

Job Description

Responsibilities:


  • Be the lead QA resource for the Consumer Marketing email team- including Jira ticket creation, pre-screening assets/copy documentation, and final QA in Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Email on Acid.

  • Build, proof, and revise emails and templates in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

  • Work with email ops team to review and validate campaign details, clean up email templates in dev and proactively identify solutions for bugs identified during QA.

  • Manage email Jira board and run daily email ops team calls to align workflow expectations, team member responsibilities and coordinate any action items for that day.

  • Lead projects with a proactive approach, identifying roadblocks and potential solutions before they impact the timeline.

  • Monitor deliverability for all email campaigns, keeping benchmark documentation, flagging deliverability concerns, and providing solutions when deliverability does not meet benchmark.

  • Be the primary point person to communicate across departments and continually set expectations with stakeholders about the project timelines, identifying at-risk dates and mitigating the risk with regular check in’s.

  • Provide stakeholders with email reporting analysis and insights for campaigns with a regular cadence, and make recommendations for testing scenarios and content enhancements.

  • Assist with managing vendor relationships and allocating resources for the internal team as needed.

Qualifications:


  • 4+ years experience in Marketing Operations, including 2+ years of Campaign Management and Development.

  • 3+ years experience in Email Marketing Operations, with an emphasis on HTML, Dev and QA.

  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud strongly preferred.

  • Static pages production for marketing campaigns.

  • Experience with dynamic content a plus.

  • Intermediate level of knowledge / experience with html + css - or “basic plus+

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work effectively across departments.

  • Excellent multi-tasking skills. Ability to work across several projects with competing deadlines and have the ability to effectively and efficiently plan and prioritize deliverables.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
