Position Summary: Operate forklift equipment in unloading/storing products, supplies, equipment, etc., from incoming trucks and palletizer equipment and loading outbound trucks in a manner that minimizes downtime while meeting or exceeding department standards.

Adhere to all plant safety standards, regulations, policies, and management direction, while incorporating procedural training and safety training to eliminate the possibility of unsafe conditions or behaviors. Other duties may be assigned.

Core Functions:

• Perform preventative maintenance on forklifts


• Understand and operate safely within the existing warehouse layout


• Interpret receiving papers and determine where to store materials


• Interpret package schedules and select and supply the correct materials to each packaging line, to formulation, and to CIP (using oldest product first)


• Conduct, record, and respond to deficiencies on a truck inspection


• Select product according to pick list using label, UPC, code date, and location information


• Safely and properly load trucks with various products, using dunnage and load locks to stabilize loads


• Interpret and comply with special instructions on orders


• Promptly obtain COA's when required to go with the load


• Inspect, exchange, and report pallet activity on an order


• Conduct and report accurate cycle counts


• Safely operate a forklift in rack storage within acceptable productivity levels without damage


• Grade pallet quality and use the correct pallets


• Load pallets and stretch-wrap and safely operate the Palletizer/Stretch-wrapper


• Trouble shoot minor problems including but not limited to: sequencing, timing, rail adjustments, photo eye and equipment malfunctions


• Escalate equipment issues to maintenance or other staff when minor troubleshooting does not resolve issues


• Identify and handle product on Quality Hold


• Identify and handle package quality problems


• Accurately count and promptly report package production (by label, UPC, code date, and location)


• Properly record and report location changes

Skill/Experience Requirements:

• Experience in forklift operation preferred


• Basic math skills


• Good verbal communication skills
