The Product Owner brings exceptional learning experiences to life, leading product execution from initial strategy and analysis through in-field use. Drawing ideas and inspiration from users and stakeholders, they curate a thoughtful and strategic product roadmap that maximizes business value. They lean on their working knowledge as well as the ability to analyze and understand customer needs to help shape the product roadmap, identify innovation opportunities and measure success.

  • Develop and maintain a product roadmap and backlog, including gathering customer and stakeholder feedback, prioritizing planned and potential efforts 3 months to 3 years out, and regularly communicating opportunities and progress against the plan;

  • Create clear and achievable product plans and facilitate teams in executing all aspects of the product lifecycle, from strategy and analysis through development and rollout to in-field use monitoring and end of availability decisions;

  • Product owners work with and provide guidance to a scrum team comprising of scrum master and developers ensuring user stories have clearly written acceptance criteria for grooming and sprint work;

  • Prepares and participates in Program Increment planning;

  • Collaborates with the program team and line of business representatives to exchange ideas on necessary product features;

  • Consistently implement a data-action-outcome improvement cycle: gather customer data and feedback, then define and implement improvements based on that data, and carefully measure and evaluate outcomes of those changes to feed further enhancements;

  • Define, track, and communicate product success metrics that lead to higher academic success, engagement, satisfaction, and business outcomes;

  • Document and understand users and their needs, and make sure products meet those needs; informed by hands-on user testing, regular conversations with families and schools, and reviews of customer support calls and messages;

  • Monitor and evaluate the EdTech marketplace and larger learning ecosystem, identifying opportunities for product improvement, competitive advantages or disadvantages, innovative technologies and techniques, and implications for the product roadmap;

  • Create product documentation, release notes, and other training collateral that clearly and concisely communicates what products offer and how they can help users realize their goals;

  • Ability to learn existing product ecosystems quickly to build working knowledge and experience.


Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.


Minimum Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree AND

  • Five (5) years of related product management experience, especially in accessibility, assistive technology, online learning, and digital education OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience


Certificates and Licenses: None required.


OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Demonstrates experience providing strong product execution leadership for complex early stage projects

  • Experience leading technology-based product management initiatives

  • Passionate and skilled in gathering and interpreting user perspective so that requirements and design reflect real needs. Experience working with users with a range of functional needs

  • Experience collaborating with internal and external technology partners as well as non-technical stakeholders

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, influence-management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Previous success working with multiple concurrent Agile software development teams (especially Scrum and/or Kanban)

  • Experience with Agile and SAFe methodologies and development tools such as JIRA, Confluence

  • Experience with online collaboration tools such as O365, Google Docs, Aha, Trello, StoriesOnBoard, etc.

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.

  • Ability to travel 5% of the time

  • Ability to clear required background check
