OVERVIEW

The Production Supervisor will provide leadership to ensure that the plant operates efficiently while delivering quality products and superior service in a safe and challenging work environment. Ensures operational excellence in the following categories: Execution, Financial Control, Innovation, Environmental and Leadership while remaining compliant with all company policies, labor contracts, as well as local, state and/or federal laws as applicable.

This position places a strong significance on effective teamwork, clear communication, sound judgment, initiative, safety orientation, reliability and a strong work ethic.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT STANDARDS

The success of the plant and the company relies on 6 key performance indicators (KPIs) -Safety, Quality, Customer Service, Cost, Continuous Improvements, and Human Resources- to evaluate the plant performance and the leadership team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support plant objectives in alignment with corporate strategies and business initiatives.

  • Coordinate and communicate with all departments as needed so the plant runs in a safe, quality-conscious, environmentally clean and efficient manner.

  • Create an environment of teamwork to improve overall performance and engagement

  • Verify that sufficient components are staged to complete production run and ensure that correct components are distributed for production runs.

  • Assign work, implement policies and procedures and recommend improvement in productions methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions.

  • Ensure up to date production data is posted on communication boards in a timely manner.

  • Meet established objectives as they pertain to the shift.

  • Manage department priorities and run reports daily to ensure completion of orders.

  • Ensures the quality of the item being produced is manufacture to product specifications.

  • Foster a Lean environment and culture. Participate, mentor and drive Lean initiatives across all areas in Production.

  • Supervises, promotes, and enforces compliance of company policies/rules/procedures.

  • Ensure safety policies are promoted and adhered to consistently and effectively.

  • Engage Human Resources to ensure positive Associate relations including resolving Associate grievances and complaints in a timely and effective manner.

  • Oversees and ensure training of new hires as well as mentor and coach Associates improve performance.

  • Conduct regular observations of assigned Associates and track performance. Initiate performance improvement measures, consequence management, and/or recognition as appropriate.

  • Oversees and maintains high levels of housekeeping.

  • Keeps an open communication with personnel.

  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule required and may also need to work overtime as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct reports include area production level associates

REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS


  • Combined education and experience 5 plus years plant manufacturing experience.

  • Experience with lean manufacturing processes which could include: Visual Management, 5S, Standard Work, Kanban, One-Piece-Flow, OEE, SMED.

  • Proven ability to guide a Production team and apply best practices in Safety, Quality, Customer Service and Cost.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing cost controls, inventory management, HR practices, quality function, and manufacturing best practices.

  • Excellent interpersonal, team building, organization, and oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a hands-on environment and work well independently

Most of the time is spent on the manufacturing floor walking and there will be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift material or equipment (typically less than 50lbs). There is a need to frequently touch and feel. The ability to hear and see with vision abilities in close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus is necessary.

Manufacturing / Production Floor: While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate however there may be areas designated as Hearing Protection required and provided earplugs are mandatory in those areas.

Not all areas of the plant and warehouse are climate controlled and exposure to heat and/or cold can occur. The Associate is frequently exposed to dust and floating particles used in the manufacturing, storage and inventory of raw materials and finished goods.
