The Manufacturing Operator 4 serves as the shovel forger in the Lawn and Garden Department. This position is responsible for setting up dies per the Leads direction, routine adjustments and performing quality checks on a routine basis while following all safety procedures. This skilled position is required to have a higher level of dexterity, physical ability, and coordination. This position may also support training of other Lawn and Garden Department employees.
Change/setup dies in all shovel presses in a timely manner
Perform preventative maintenance duties to the equipment and its specific systems including hydraulic, air and lubrication systems including daily record keeping of this function
Troubleshoot dies, presses and support equipment in order to assist maintenance and tool & die personnel in locating areas for repair
Read and Understand Blueprints and use all types of gage and inspection equipment including but not limited to: Calipers, Micrometers, Height gages, etc. and use these tools for inspection of many types of materials including raw incoming stock, finished components, die parts and press parts
Perform shop floor record keeping functions including the collection of production measurements and metrics data.
Run/assemble all products, including understanding material and machine requirements, while meeting required production and quality rates
Follow the required SOPs and achieve the published standard work goals
Initiates and participates in continuous improvement through cost savings, gain sharing and kaizen or other related activities
Other duties within department as assigned (including, but not limited to, training of all other Production Operators, access supporting business systems, initiate, participate and lead continuous improvement activities, and cover for supervisor in running production floor, etc.)
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Demonstrate the understanding of all required paperwork to include but not limited to, the Bill of Materials (BOM), Hour x Hour sheet, basic tool prints, communication boards, standard work documents, quality visuals
Work and communicate in a professional manner with all business associates
Must comply with all safety policies and procedures; including, but not limited to wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE)

High school diploma or general education degree (GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1 – 3 Years of work experience
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Computer Skills
PC skills preferred with internet experience

Strong mechanical aptitude/ability with working knowledge of stamping presses, press controls, dies and tooling, feeders, straighteners and other equipment pertaining to auto blanking
Knowledge of Lean Principles, QDC, 5S, and Continuous Improvement Process

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Wearing PPE is required.
