PURPOSE:
This position is accountable for carrier sourcing activities including negotiations, selection, on-boarding, and performance and will lead salaried team members responsible for freight audit, engineering, and ocean transportation.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Carrier Sourcing, On-Boarding, Performance
Understand global logistics environment, capacity, and market trends
Submit RFQ’s and negotiate rates
Administer carrier contracts and spot buys while ensuring compliance
Complete carrier on-boarding and participate with any required training
Establish strategic relationships with carriers
Facilitate regular meetings with carriers to review performance and improvement opportunities
Address escalations relating to carrier service issues
Manage Freight Pay Audit & Claims Processing whose responsibilities include the following:
Ensure internal programs reflect correct rates that are aligned to carrier contracts
Verify carrier invoice accuracy
Investigate billing discrepancies and interact with carriers to understand cause and resolution
Accountable for using internal programs to process freight payments for clients
Prepare accrual reports to properly recognize carrier payment liabilities
Oversee the initiation of freight claims and ensure timely resolution
Manage Logistics Engineering whose responsibilities include the following:
Conduct logistics analysis and use data to determine optimal route design
Review and upload planned routes into TMS
Utilize TMS to control and reduce logistics spend through transportation optimization
Work cross-functionally with suppliers, carriers, Dana sites, and logistics team to identify and implement cost savings initiatives
Prepare reports and presentations for leadership reviews
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required, logistics or supply chain related field preferred
Minimum of 7 years of experience in logistics or supply chain, automotive experience is a plus
Must have excellent computer skills and thorough knowledge of MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Experience and understanding of the use of TMS systems
