Job Description:

ECS is seeking a Network Engineer to work in our Quantico, VA office.

Job Description:
ECS has an immediate opening for a Network Engineer to work in support of the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) Operations and Support Services (OSS) program in Quantico, VA. The ideal candidate will have a sound technical background; a willingness to learn; experience with complex systems, and the ability to configure and manage network firewalls. The Engineer must be a team player and willing to interact with other people at all levels throughout the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead engineering activities throughout the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Install, configure, maintain, update, and refine networks
  • Implement, manage, and monitor firewall security policy
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues and outages
  • Evaluate network performance and make appropriate recommendations
  • Examine network vulnerabilities and determine actions to mitigate them
  • Support out of patching and upgrades; may require non-standard working hours
  • Recommend, schedule, and/or implement repairs within the network environment
  • Schedule and perform backups on all network components
  • Conduct functional, interoperability, and security testing
  • Analyze system performance for potential security problems
  • Participate in technical incident response and security assessment activities
  • Ensure network components maintain compliance with NIST security requirements
  • Support risk mitigation activities such as CCRI's, Assessment and Authorization (A&A), continuous monitoring, and vulnerability and configuration management
  • Develop network documentation such as diagrams and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Support the development of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards
  • Provide knowledge transfer to team members and clients
  • Conduct other duties as needed

Required Skills:
  • Active Top-Secret clearance
  • Expertise with network firewalls
  • Working knowledge of STIGs for network hardening
  • Hands on experience in configuring and implementing backup procedures and policies
  • Ability to interface with all levels from end-users to senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Understand the system and its environment of operation
    • Comprehend networking concepts like routing (Static & Dynamic), VLANs, Switch-Router Configuration, AAA services, virtual networking, etc.
    • Configure, harden, and manage network firewalls

Desired Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in system engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline
  • Citrix, Cisco, Microsoft, and Nutanix
  • Microsoft application administration and support
  • Domain Administration managing Active Directory, OU structures, Sites, Trusts, DHCP, DNS, and AD Certificate Services
  • Automation of administrative tasks using PowerShell
  • Design, create, test, apply, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPO) at the domain level
  • Support local hardware such as servers, desktops, laptops, and printers
  • Superb client-facing skills
  • Leadership and strategic skills
  • A track record of self-improvement and continuous learning
