Industrial Engineer

The industrial engineer is responsible for the assessment of and integration of advanced process solutions for our production factory for class 3 medical devices. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring best practices and methods in industrial engineering are applied to factory initiatives, including feasibility of automating processes, integrating new technologies, increasing yields, minimizing scrap, and more. This role, in partnership with colleagues from Manufacturing Operations, the Advanced Technology Group, Finance, Digital Factory Systems, and others, must define factory capacity and resource constraints, install and assess the accuracy of factory metrics, and plan and execute necessary process changes within the factory. The mandate is to meaningfully influence the efficiency of our production factory and processes with defined and measurable KPIs that allow us to track our continued improvement over time.

Your Responsibilities


  • Apply Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis and decision-making tools to promote and assist in implementing changes in manufacturing, engineering and service operations.

  • Collaborate in the development, improvement, and implementation of processes to enhance schedule performance, reduce cost, and improve quality, through the application of Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts.

  • Review the allocation of resources, analyze productivity, and seek out ways to maximize production while minimizing cost.

  • Utilize engineering methods (e.g., mathematical models, simulation, statistics) to support the development of optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment) for the manufacturing operations.

  • Define metrics for productivity and manufacturing effectiveness to use as key process indicators (KPIs) to manage the value stream.

  • Develop capacity planning models based on current and projected throughput and operation schedules and provide summary analysis and metrics to internal customers at various levels.

  • Interact with factory employees to gather data for process improvements. This would include observing and documenting processes and collecting data in manufacturing areas during various production phases.

  • Assist or lead cross functional teams to plan and implement continuous improvement projects.

  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the manager.

Your Profile


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Management, or related discipline.

  • 2-3+ yrs experience with 24x7 manufacturing environment highly desired.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required.

  • Requires structured problem solving skills and solution oriented work style.

  • Experience with working in environment with MES, ERP and BI enterprise systems is desired

  • Experience with methodologies such as Lean manufacturing, design of experiments, Six Sigma, and capacity planning for problem solving and optimization.

  • Experience creating and managing project plans desired.
