The primary role of the Reliability Manager is to improve reliability of the physical assets by eliminating unanticipated failures. This is done through development of a sound proactive maintenance strategy, analysis of failure causes, recommending design enhancements, and developing improved repair methods. The position is responsible for the reliability of all equipment in the area to which he/she is assigned. He/she maintains appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results or completed work. He/She will also be responsible for the optimization of resources leading to part of the reduction in total maintenance costs. This role is located at the export facility in Longview WA with PM duties also covering the Montana Interior assets.
Core Functions:
Ensures that identified elements of the Asset Management Process and Standards are fully implemented and functioning
Direct supervision of reliability dedicated maintenance staff.
Works alongside maintenance and electrical managers to drive an effective PM program.
Reliability and project management support to facility
Has a thorough understanding of the Potential-Failure Curve and relationship to setting maintenance activity frequencies
Participate actively in the weekly "Asset Management/Scheduling" meeting
Assists in the development of long-range asset management schedules and budgets
Educates other employees about reliability engineering and local reliability implementation
Works closely with the Predictive technology specialists, external and/or internal to optimize the scope and frequency of checks
Maintains the PM (Preventive Maintenance) system and process within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
Identifies the critical processes and understands how they affect throughput, quality, environmental and safety compliance
Develops, recommends and implements strategies for improving the reliability of the manufacturing processes
Performs reliability reviews of each modification or design change
Reviews predictive maintenance activities, recommends changes to the type of monitoring, routes, frequency and equipment monitored
Maintains or monitors equipment downtime database with focus on monitoring unscheduled downtime on key process equipment
Maintains equipment criticality lists
Responsible for RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) or FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) on existing equipment and all new equipment
Monitors operations equipment forms or electronic monitoring systems to trend equipment condition
Monitors and performs trending and analysis of all Predictive Maintenance, PM and CBM (Condition Based Maintenance) data
Monitors the execution and effectiveness of lubrication programs
Maintains progress list of improvement projects
Writes work orders to feed the asset management work management process
Performs life cycle cost analyses on all engineering design changes
Evaluates the cost/benefit of all new diagnostic technologies
Communicates the key asset management performance indicators as well as the company's KPIs (Key Process Indicators)
Works closely with the Maintenance and Operations Departments in performing RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) & facilitates RCFA teams
Reviews the CMMS database, equipment history and work-order history to identify the need to perform RCFA
Generates downtime reports and performs analysis on results; uses analysis to identify opportunities and prioritize improvement efforts
Has input to the design and implementation of improvements
Ensures that all department work performed is done in a safe manner and that all work areas are maintained to meet or exceed all safety rules, as well as all local, state and federal safety and environmental laws and regulatory acts
Skill/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferred
5+yrs previous maintenance/reliability experience
Good data management and analysis skills
Working knowledge of Predicative Maintenance techniques
Working knowledge of Reliability Tools; Reliability Centered Maintenance Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis & Root Cause Analysis
Ability to use probability and statistical analysis tools
Strong industrial plant background with grain experience preferred
A demonstrated high degree of tact in dealing with both plant staff and craft personnel
Possess a personal style and level of capability that will command respect within both maintenance and operating organizations
High level of organizational skills
Enthusiastic/positive approach to their work
