In this exciting role as a Sr Manufacturing Engineer at Medtronic's Energy and Component Center (MECC) you will support the automated processes that manufacturing high quality components used in implantable medical devices. You will have responsibility for overall performance and efficiency of the process to include corrective actions and stability improvements. The processes include varying levels of laser welding, PLC/PC programming, motion control, robotics, and vision applications. The Brooklyn Center facility supports the design, development, and production of components used in implantable devices for a variety of Medtronic businesses. In this role you will gain experience with different battery technologies that support Medtronic's portfolio and will work closely with Research & Technology, Process Development, Product Design, Quality, Reliability Engineering, and Regulatory Affairs, supporting your development and growth. This role reports to the Sr. Engineering Manager as a member of the growing Battery Engineering Team. What does it take to be a leader at Medtronic? A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
