This position offers the opportunity to live and work in the great weather, mountains, and outdoor playground of Utah, and be an integral part of the Salt Lake City Michael Baker A/E team. Our team has been and is currently designing a wide array of interesting projects, including new F-35 Hangars, pilot training facilities, State Library rehabilitation, petrol-chemical facilities, and new hotels. Our multi-discipline team works together to deliver the complete package of Architecture, Civil, Structures, Mechanical, and Electrical/Comm. Our team is also executing these projects using cloud hosted B.I.M. techniques, the most innovative design and construction delivery method in use today. This process encourages collaboration within the design team and with the builder (contractor).

DESCRIPTION

As part of our Mechanical Engineering Design Team, you will primarily provide planning, design, and construction support for a variety of projects related to industrial facility engineering. You will provide input to the preparation of construction drawings and specifications. You will build and maintain important relationships with customers, subcontractors, and vendors.

•The majority of your day would be spent leading and/or contributing to the mechanical engineering design efforts on one or more projects.

•Perform mechanical evaluation and design of facilities (HVAC, power piping, process piping, building services piping, compressed air systems, energy auditing, etc.)

•Perform load and energy modeling calculations.

•Prepare complex studies, calculations, reports, construction specifications, and other supporting documentation.

•Supervise the preparation of construction drawings related to new and existing structures.

•Clearly convey information to internal and external clients.

•Assist in the development of scope of work statements and man-hour estimates.

•Assist with defining scope of work and man-hour requirements.

•Travel occasionally, as required.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

•You'll need a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.

•You'll need a minimum of 4 years' experience in commercial or industrial facility maintenance or design.

•You'll need to be registered as a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Utah or be eligible to become registered by comity from another state.

•You'll need to be a U.S. Citizen with no dual-citizenship.

•You should have excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.

•You'll need to be outgoing, organized and assertive. You'll also need to be able to network and build relationships with a wide variety of people.

•Computer skills using the Microsoft Office Suite.

•You'll need to be a motivated self-starter who displays a passion for solving problems, interacting in a team environment, and meeting established deadlines.

•It would be a plus if you have a CEM (Certified Energy Manager) certification.

•It would be a plus if you have experience using Trane Trace, AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent experience
