The Senior Continuous Improvement Lead Engineer is responsible for the evaluation, analysis, and implementation of projects driving cost reduction of manufacturing processes that provide implantable components to finished devices. This position interacts closely with the Operations team as well as several engineering disciplines such as Process Development, Quality, Reliability Engineering, and Regulatory Affairs. Additionally, this position requires problem solving skills experience (COS, MOS, Six Sigma, DRM), technical expertise, ability to manage complex projects, and lead cross-functional team to a successful and timely conclusion. A Day in the Life:
•Lead Value Stream wide initiatives with regards to Operational Excellence.
•Hands on execution and project management of Lean transformation projects (Cell Operating System).
•Drive Value Stream adoption of Six Sigma, Lean, and other performance improvement methodologies.
•Technical expert in Lean Manufacturing tools and principles including set-up reduction, standardized work, value stream mapping, Heijunka and A3 thinking, has general knowledge of other related disciplines.
•Support successful deployment of COS, MOS, Six Sigma and/or DRM methodologies by providing coaching and mentoring to project teams in the application of methodologies.
•Responsible for leading own cross-functional process improvement projects and business-wide improvement initiatives.
•Demonstrate strong problem solving, project management, change management, analytical, and leadership skills.
•Utilizes project management skills to drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma and/or DRM methodology, stakeholder analysis, report outs, risk assessments, and cost/benefit analysis
•Make use of appropriate technical skills and tools, such as DOE, SPC, hypothesis testing, capability studies, Gemba walks, and "hands on" analysis, to perform in depth analysis, determine root cause, and identify corrective actions
•Identification of cost reduction opportunities and perform assessment based on impact and effort for prioritization
•Manage project through required regulatory approvals
•Lead teams and collaborate with multiple levels and cross-functional areas for effective project execution
•Facilitate and lead Kaizen events across the organization.
•Perform as technical expert in Six Sigma methodology and principles including statistical analysis, variation reduction, waste reduction, customer evaluation, and has general knowledge of other related disciplines.
•Conduct regular project reviews to assure accomplishment of key results.
•Communicate progress, status, and issues to upper management.
•Share and institutionalize best practices.
•Develop project reporting metrics.
•Assist in developing Dashboard metrics. Assist in developing project selection process.
•Plan, direct, and actively participate with hands-on approach, technical project management for multiple development projects, managing cross-functional teams.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Nice to Have:
•BS in Engineering or related Technical field of study
•Minimum of 4 years manufacturing engineering experience or MS degree and 2+ years of related experience
•Experience with project management
•Experience with problem solving using analytic s such as DMAIC/A3
•Understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts of manufacturing processes
•Technical knowledge of manufacturing processes
•Experience handling multiple tasks concurrently
•Excellent data analysis skills, and proficient in the use of statistical tools in problem solving
•Computer skills such as Word and Excel
•Knowledge of quality systems
•BB/Master Black/Green Belt certification (Six Sigma or DRM)
•PMP or equivalent Project Management certification
•Experience in Leading large projects and diverse project teams.
•Experience with Medical Device Regulation ISO 13485.
•Experience in medical product mfg / assembly operations
•Excellent data analysis skills, and proficient in the use of statistical tools in problem solving
