Conrad Yelvington Distributors, a CRH company, supplies and distributes aggregate materials such as granite, river gravel, limestone, natural sand, and more. This rail served aggregate distribution network covers Florida, Southern Mississippi, South Carolina, and Alabama.



Position Overview

Collect product samples and performs field QC tests to measure conformance to applicable specifications.  Fosters teamwork, positive work environment and overall safety of self and others.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Follow directions of QC Manager and/or QC Director as to daily tasks and expectations for each site.

  • Utilize shovels, brooms and hand tools to collect and reduce samples at aggregate sites.

  • Travel to various company aggregate sites to collect and process samples.

  • Utilize hand tools and equipment to perform preventative maintenance on field equipment.

  • Process samples utilizing laboratory manual and powered equipment such as splitter, scale and sifter.

  • Utilize computer and/or iPad to accurately record sample data.

  • Sets the example by following & promoting all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.

  • Must maintain at all times a strict adherence to company safety requirements and procedures.

  • Must possess a professional attitude and communicate effectively while interacting with peers, contractors, FDOT inspectors and management.

  • Must be able to work at times both unsupervised as well as in a team.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily according to Conrad Yelvington Distributors guidelines and standards. 

Education/Experience


  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.

  • Related experience, including construction or other physical labor, is preferred.

  • Enroll in and complete and pass the QC Sampler certification course within 60 days of employment.

 Work Requirements


  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, criminal background check and driving record review.

  • Must be willing to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in The United States.

  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.

  • High degree of integrity required.

  • Regular and timely attendance is required.

  • Valid Driver’s License Required. 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements


  • Ability to read, write and do basic math calculations.

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools. 

  • Ability to use basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands


  • Ability to operate a vehicle on public roads. 

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and lift and carry up to 50 pounds ocassionally.

  • Ability to stand constantly and walk or stand frequently.

  • Requires depth perception, near/far vision, color vision

  • Adequate hearing ability to communicate with co-workers and supervisor face to face and via two way radio.

  • Ability to adequately articulate and communicate with customers, supervisors, and coworkers face to face and via two way radio.
