The Senior Manager of Interaction Design plays a strategic role in bringing our products to market, working closely with Product and Engineering leaders and other business partners to ensure that the products we design, and build are aligned with user needs and expectations and delivered with care and commitment to quality. As an embedded member of the Product team, the Experience Design Manager helps to shape the product roadmap, contributes user context, defines user stories and design tasks, drives collaborative design practices, and ensures quality and a sense of urgency within the team, emphasizing the use of lean tools and techniques. Acting in a player coach role, the Experience Design Manager remains hands-on, creating sketches, wireframes, user flows and other critical design documentation as needed, while also managing and mentoring a small team who support design work for the product team as well as other key Experience Design initiatives. This is a high-visibility position, with direct lines of communication to senior leadership and executive team members and reports directly to the VP of User Experience.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Acts as the owner of the user experience and advocate (voice) for the end user in the development of the UX strategies and vision for the organization.


  • Defines the strategy around Flexera One and what is important to the success of the business. Translates business goals into a holistic plan (short term goals and longer-term strategic initiatives) with actionable strategies to ensure ease of use and an engaging experience.


  • Collaborate with development team and be the product managers for ongoing development sprints which will include optimizations, maintenance and bug fixing.


  • Analyze long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and decisions.


  • Manages operational plans and performance requirements for the specified are of responsibility.


  • Leads team and facilitates communication between design team, management, vendors, and other technology resources within and outside of the organization.


  • Shares highly complex information related to areas of expertise. Interacts with senior management to keep abreast of objectives. Interacts with direct reports and peers in management / customers / vendors to interpret information and improve cross-functional processes and programs.


  • Builds and enhances key internal and external contacts.


  • Serve as a subject-matter expert in all things user experience design and help lead both clients, team members and peers to help think about opportunities that solve business challenges, while meeting brand and user needs.


  • Determines insights, analysis, and research needs to better understand users' behavior and goals.


Qualifications/Requirements:


  • Experience with enterprise software solutions


  • A strong strategic mindset and deep experience in leading design teams


  • A passion and rich background in interaction design


  • Excellent visual and interaction design skills and a keen understanding of how to build alignment and collaboration across diverse stakeholders


  • Ability to communicate ideas, concepts, and designs in a clear and compelling way to audiences of all levels


  • Track record of deploying digital tools and services in a fast-moving and changing environment - one that embraces exploration, rapid iteration, and production


  • Experience leading UX processes and building reliable cross-functional partnerships


  • Ability to craft high-quality work in short timeframes, multitask across different projects and platforms and adapt to the ever-changing priorities of the business


  • Proficiency in all major tools of the trade: Sketch Invision, Figma, etc.


  • Deep experience with business requirement gathering, end-to-journey mapping, facilitating design sprints, conducting competitive analysis, and leading rapid conceptualization and prototyping
