The Role:
The Program Management team within Clinical Development at Moderna is responsible for management of programs from the pre-clinical stage to licensure. We are seeking a motivated and energetic Program Manager to join our Early Development PM team to support execution of objectives and strategy for pre-clinical/pre-IND and early clinical programs. The successful candidate will work in close coordination with the Program Leader, Research Leader, cross-functional Core team and Clinical team to enable the execution of the timelines to IND filing and phase 1 studies. Assigned programs may span several therapeutic areas including infectious disease, rare disease, autoimmunity, or oncology. The successful program manager will have program management experience in a drug discovery setting and be able to handle several projects in parallel in a fast-paced environment. Program managers help drive their program teams forward in the development of novel mRNA medicines for a wide range of diseases and conditions to make mRNA therapy a reality for patients.
Here's What You'll Do:
The Program Manager will drive programs by:
Partnering with the research leader to move programs out of exploratory research and into development
Partnering with the program leader to shape program clinical strategy and execution plan.
Collaborating with functional leads to define program strategy and proactively identify and escalate gaps and challenges and managing risks through detailed scenario planning.
Building relationships with key stakeholders (team members and leadership) to ensure alignment of functional and corporate objectives; meeting regularly with the line function representatives to ensure the program remains on track and within budget.
Coordinating team efforts to develop impactful presentations to summarize complex topics into critical points to facilitate strategic planning and decision-making; preparing program status updates, phase gates, and governance presentations to Moderna leadership and executives.
Developing and tracking cross-functional activities against program timelines and budget; and accurately maintaining these within Moderna's proprietary digital platform.
Administering the day-to-day activities, including facilitating cross-functional team meeting, leading discussions to drive decision-making, preparing agenda and meeting minutes, defining and resolving actions items.
Working with the Finance group to implement and track program budget.
Contributing to Program Management initiatives to support development and scaling of capabilities, tools and processes.
Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
BS degree in a scientific field with a minimum 6 years of experience or MS degree in a scientific field with 6 years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting
Experience with early development in oncology, infectious disease, autoimmune, and/or rare disease is preferred
Laboratory experience in an academic or biotechnology setting is preferred
Project management training, such as PMP is preferred
Experience with early development in oncology, infectious disease, autoimmune, and/or rare disease is preferred
Proven track record of successful project management experience preferably supporting early-stage drug development programs, ideally having led the transition of novel candidates from discovery through first in man studies, including IND-enabling studies
Experience managing or working within cross-functional project teams with timeline management and budgetary responsibility
Strong knowledge of project management tools and software, including MS Project/Smartsheets and timeline visualization software
Must be adept at working in a fluid environment and foster a strong collaborative spirit internally and externally.
Strong personal skills to influence without authority, motivate others and manage conflict.
Strong written and oral communication skills as well as demonstrated organizationalaptitude
