The College of Arts and Sciences at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) seeks a Laboratory Supervisor for the Physics Department, located at the New York City campus.

Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of the physics lab, supervise lab instructors for safety on both Long Island and New York City campuses. The position would also supervise the lab technician of Long Island campus for safety and all technical aspects of running physics experiments.

Lead the effort of establishing the modern physics labs and other upper division physics experiments on both Long Island and New York City campuses.

Supervise faculty members, lab instructors, and the technician in improving all labs of physics at all levels.

Teach up to 4 lab sections for two purposes: 1) be familiar with all new/old labs for improvements; 2) assist faculty members' effort of renewing some of the labs.

Supervise technician and lab instructors in maintaining physics lab equipment in good working conditions, especially the new modern physics lab and all other upper division physics labs.

Lead and coordinate with the technician on Long Island campus in purchasing all new and replacement lab equipment for both campuses. The position would then report to the chairperson for final decisions of all budgetary related to all the physics labs.

Qualifications

A Bachelors' degree in Physics is required, a Master's degree in Physics is preferred.

Field expertise in Physics is required.

Experience with working in modern Physics lab is preferred.

Candidates must have excellent communication skills and able to work collaboratively and independently.

Must have knowledge of basic computer skills.
