Optician III (CNC) - 2nd Shift - 10% Shift Premium - $1,000 Sign-on Bonus at II-VI Aerospace & Defense

Job Description:

Limited time: $1,000 incentive, for continued employment with II-VI A&D, subject to the terms described.


  • $250 paid at 30 days of service completed
  • $250 paid at 60 days of service completed
  • $500 paid at 90 days of service completed

You must be employed on the dates specified to receive payment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Under minimum supervision, fabricate optical components by following established procedures utilizing one or more standard processes in the optical fabrication department utilizing CNC machine centers.

Education & Experience


  • High School Diploma or (GED) or equivalent experience. Trade school certificate is a plus (such as NTMA.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English language, blueprints and written instructions. Ability to understand verbally the English language and follow directions. To achieve this position the candidate must have 3-5 years of CNC Machining experience. Basic knowledge in all other areas of the fabrication processes, and possess 5-7 years directly related experience or education.
  • Experience with custom equipment, electronics, and mechanical knowledge highly preferred.

Skills

  • Fundamental math skills are required; advanced math skills (algebra, trigonometry) are a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with local, state, and national regulatory agencies such as DER, EPA, OSHA, NEC, etc.
  • Knowledge of engineering and design disciplines related to construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting of production machinery and facilities used in the manufacture of optical components.
  • Ability to read instructions and maintain concise written records are required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in furnished written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic skills in MS Office
  • Ability to assembly and interact with custom robotic equipment to complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to learn additional released software, as needed.
