We are seeking an RN – Ambulatory – Thoracic Coordinator:

• Work directly with a team of thoracic surgeons offering consultation and surgical management of a wide range of disorders and diseases involving the airway, lung, chest wall, pleura (inside lining of the chest wall), mediastinum, diaphragm, and foregut (esophagus and stomach).

• Participate in teaching activities at UW Health for physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and for students in those disciplines. Support planning of and participate in clinical research projects. Guide the pathway for patients working with our specialists who provide a complete range of services, from initial evaluation and management to highly specialized consultation for rare and complex diseases and new surgical approaches, device, and technologies.

Education:

Minimum – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree

Work Experience:

Minimum – Two (2) years of recent clinical nursing experience.

Preferred – Four (4) years of recent clinic nursing experience and Progressive nursing experience with demonstrated success

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum – Licensed as Registered Nurse in State of Wisconsin. CPR Certification.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

• Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.


• Excellent communication skills required.


• Ability to prioritize clinical issues and case manage a large number of patients within the thoracic surgery department.


• Knowledge of computer software is required to operate within the program’s local area network – entering and obtaining information in the STS database, patient problems lists, medication, and lab profiles and clinical research database.

Physical Requirements:

Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday between the hours of 8AM-5PM. Hours may vary based on operational needs of department. Opportunity for at least 20% remote work upon successful orientation to the position. No weekends and no holiday rotation required.
