Job Description:

Directs information technology projects, network infrastructure, telecommunications and operational activities within the IT&S department of the hospital. Provides technical leadership to Hospital Senior Management in regard to access, security, and reliability of telecommunications and information technologies installed in the hospital. Facilitates communications concerning technology initiatives.  Evaluates emerging computing and telecommunication technologies.  Represents the hospital at internal and external information and telecommunication technology meetings and seminars, thereby facilitating knowledge transfer to Senior Management.  Coordinates services with Corporate IT&S including:  Programming, Database Administration, Network Infrastructure, Technical Support, PC Support, Telecommunications, and Integration Services.  Anticipates and coordinates Information Technology & Services' internal and external client requirements to establish a consistent goal and direction for Information Technology & Services as it relates to the mission of Western Reserve Hospital. The director also keeps up to date of and evaluates the impact of regulatory requirements of telecommunications and information technology issues in healthcare that may affect the facility.

Education and Training

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Accounting or relevant health care field


• Master’s degree preferred


• Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

Experience

• Five (5) to Seven (7) years of experience leading an information technology function within a hospital including minimum of three (3) years in a management role and direct support role within information technology


• Extensive and varied technical background


• An understanding of essential information technologies (including, but not limited to: programming, database management, network basics, computer operations and project management and telecommunications)


• Understands key applications within a healthcare organization and the associated inter-relationships between those applications


• Outstanding project management abilities and have proven success with collaborating with operations partners to implement necessary technology solutions

• Strong understanding of hospital operations


• Ability to direct the work of highly skilled technical specialists


• Ability to apply new technical innovations to business needs


• Strong oral and written communications


• Strong understanding of infastrucutre frame work and related technologies
