STAFF EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - WAFER PROCESSING at Coherent

Our Laser Diode Components team in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Staff Equipment Maintenance Technician to join the team. This position is mainly responsible for maintenance of wafer processing equipment and associated tools.

Job Description and Responsibilities:


  • Equipment maintenance on a variety of tools such as e-beam evaporators, PECVD chambers, mask aligners, resist coaters, RTA tools, wet benches etc.

  • Work with equipment and process engineers on routine maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Perform daily and periodic and unplanned chamber maintenance.

  • Disassemble and assemble equipment for repair.

  • Enter data into computer software programs.

  • If required, train in other work areas.

  • Work in full clean room attire; full coverall jumpsuit, booties, shoe covers, hairnet and face cover, gloves.




Education and Work Experience:


  • Vocational Training or Associates Degree.

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience working in a high-tech manufacturing environment, preferably with wafer processing related equipment.

  • Previous experience in optic or electronic components manufacture.

  • Computer skills: using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

  • Previous experience using high tech equipment.

  • Basic reading, writing and math skills.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Dexterity to handle small components.

  • Ability to lift up to thirty pounds.

  • Experience reading, understanding and following procedures and work instructions.

  • Excellent spoken and written English, and good communication skills.

  • Good record keeping skills, organized, dependable. Knowledgeable of safety practices.

  • Familiar with working in a cleanroom environment; follower of good housekeeping practices.

  • Must work well alone and in teams.

  • Must be U.S. citizen or green card holder.
