Position Overview The Reading Teacher commits to upholding EAGLE College Prep's mission, instructional vision, and Commitment to Excellence. The Reading Teacher will work collaboratively with a Teacher Assistant and with other teachers in his/her grade level. The teacher will report to, and receive coaching from, the School Principal.He/she will demonstrate high expectations for the achievement and conduct of all students and foster a safe, joyful, and nurturing learning environment in which students can thrive.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and co-teach an academic curriculum that adheres to Common Core standards, as well as to EAGLE College Prep's college readiness standards
Work collaboratively with in the spirit of teamwork and communication
Differentiate instructional techniques to meet the diverse needs of students
Consistently monitor levels of student engagement and understanding, exercising cognitive empathy to consider the learning experience from the student's perspective
Small group targeted instruction for 3-6 scholars at a time
Target instruction based on STEP & Lexia Data
Follows Intervention schedule as created by DOI
Key Qualifications & Competencies:
Possess zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor
Possession of teaching certification as an elementary school teacher
ELL experience preferred
Consistent focus on results and demonstrated student progress
High academic and conduct expectations for all students and strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement and ongoing development
Entrepreneurial spirit and desire to contribute to building a school from the ground up
Self-aware and understands own strengths and weaknesses; commitment to continuous personal growth, professional development, and mentorship opportunities
Educational Background and Work Experience
1+ years' experience in a similar role at a high achieving school
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education
Certified Teacherin the state of Missouri
