Enterprise Security Architect

The Enterprise Security Architect will report to the Director of Enterprise Architecture and is accountable for all design aspects of security architecture within Tanium’s enterprise architecture program, including all underlying systems and processes. Additionally, this role will have a formal dotted line to Tanium’s CISO and will participate directly and regularly in the development and execution of cybersecurity practices at Tanium.

Candidates must have technical acumen balanced with the ability to operate strategically, communicate effectively and foster close relationships with business stakeholders to ensure ongoing alignment as business initiatives emerge and new technologies are considered, proposed, procured, and deployed. In doing so, you will focus on the following:

• Provide security-focused subject matter expertise across multiple disciplines and ecosystems ranging from CRM (Salesforce), marketing automation, finance systems, centralized integrations, collaboration tools, cybersecurity tools, cloud environments, and more
• Advise and support projects teams on security requirements and best practices
• Translate technical concepts into plain language to articulate business risk and provide mitigation recommendations in close collaboration with security and business stakeholders
• Strive for efficiency and the evangelize the adoption of security, compliance, and data privacy requirements across all enterprise solutions
• Define, publish, and maintain architecture standards and reference patterns and ensure requirements are consistently and effectively met

• Collaborate with security teams to develop and maintain comprehensive threat models
• Develop and track security-focused ROIs for technology initiatives, purchases, and renewals
• Research and propose comprehensive security technology solutions to meet unique and systemic business needs while ensuring the organization is making sensible investment
• Embrace and maintain a culture of transparency, accountability, efficiency, and action
• Embrace Kanban as the primary methodology for project and workload management

• Provide guidance to senior leadership on technology trends and strategies which may impact or accelerate Tanium’s security, compliance programs, or ongoing success.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or other relevant degree or equivalent work experience

• CISSP Certification is nice to have

• 6+ years in security or engineering equivalent role

• 4+ years in security or IT architect role
• Deep understanding of various IT & Compliance frameworks, including ITIL, ISO27001, SOC2, FedRAMP, SOX, etc.
• Demonstratable experiencing leading security review of cloud and SaaS architectures
• Comprehensive knowledge of role based access control patterns and best practices
• Experience with Software as a Service and cloud environments (AWS and Azure preferred)

• Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of operating in a quickly evolving environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Architect-grade technical acumen
• Demonstrated history of engaging and working with senior business leaders
• Proven ability to manage uncertainty and thrive in a rapidly changing environment
