Job Description:

Come join a dynamic new national media powerhouse focused on the over-the-air TV consumer. The Scripps Networks (a growing portfolio of entertainment and news networks) provides absorbing entertainment and objective, intelligent news as we use our own distribution platforms to serve this unduplicated national audience. We meet the audience where it is with the programs it wants.

Integrates visual content and audio material to create compelling stories 24/7 news network, Newsy. Responsible for editing projects with compelling packaged stories, interviews and pre-produced segments. 

What you'll do:


  • Capture visual content and edit long-form and short-form stories and content 


  • Work with producers, reporters and videographers to ensure a high quality product consistent with the shows brand


  • Responsible for operating various equipment, including but not limited to video camera and video editing equipment


  • Maintain video archive filing system


  • Gathers story related materials (sound and video) on a timely basis


  • Coordinates remote and studio events, creating synergy between remote and studio productions


  • Collaborates with field teams and affiliates on breaking stories, sharing of information


  • Perform other duties as assigned 


What you'll bring:

Education & Experience


  • Associate's degree in journalism or related field preferred or equivalent experience


  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in related field preferred


Skills & Abilities


  • Proficiency in non-linear, editing, including Adobe Premiere Pro


  • Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws


  • Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to the Web site


  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States


  • Self-starter, ability to work in a team environment, performing wide range of functions in a boundary-less way


  • Able to work under pressure and meet multiple daily deadlines
