Your Role



  • Perform and/or supervise moderately complex geology/geophysics/geochemistry 

  • duties related to specific phases of larger projects (mine, development or exploration) 

  • or works independently on all aspects of smaller projects.

  • Duties require the application of scientific knowledge and theory with latitude for 

  • independent judgement and decisions.

  • Geoscientists at this grade level must be able to complete the roles with minimal 

  • supervision.

  • Project geoscientists are not typically supervisors of staff, but depending on the project 

  • magnitude can be responsible for 1-3 technical and support staff. 

  • Employees must comply with regulatory health and safety regulations, company 

  • policies and procedures and the Company's environmental compliance policy.

  • Employees will perform other duties as directed and needed by the Company to ensure 

  • optimal safe operation.

     

What you will do



  • Must be able to meet the requirements of a staff geoscientist.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by actively engaging staff and

  • participating in Safety Journey programs. 

  • Promote stewardship of the environment and follow Newmont Mining Corp. Social 

  • Responsibility guidelines. 

  • The ability to conduct QA/QC evaluation on various data types. 

  • Thorough understanding of downhole surveying techniques and the ability to 

  • investigate potential errors and correct as necessary. 

  • Provide mentoring and development of less experienced geoscientists. 

  • Oversee work performed by less experienced geoscientists and ensure quality work is 

  • being generated.

  • Duties may include budget estimation, submittal, effective management of the budget, 

  • and meet established deadlines.

  • Furthering knowledge of mineral economics and Business Acumen. 

  • Understands and can recognize risks to the business as it applies to geology.

  • Demonstrable target generation abilities.

  • Design and execute drill programs and other essential project work with minimum 

  • supervision. 

  • Ability to request and review basic database extractions. 

  • Follow established Global Standards and Guidelines and ensure compliance of 

  • requirements.

  • Perform data entry and data management functions as necessary.

  • Work and communicate effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers.

  • Write comprehensive reports for review by senior management, joint venture partners 

  • and regulatory agencies.

Your training, skills and experience checklist



  • Bachelor of Science or M.S. degree in Geosciences or related field with knowledge of 

  • geological principles.

  • Typically has 6 to 8 years of industry experience in a mining or exploration 

  • environment.

     

Working Conditions and location



  • You will be based in Cripple Creek & Victor.

The salary range offered for this role is $75,680.00-$99,330.00. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
