Job Description and Responsibilities:

  • The Defense R&D and Manufacturing group has a need for a Senior Assembler to support pilot production of high power fiber amplifiers. This is a fast-paced, highly technical, and continually evolving product line with a rapid transition from R&D into production.

  • Work with high power (>1 kW) fiber amplifiers

  • Execute all optical, mechanical, and electrical assembly stations

  • Ability to perform basic test functions

  • Assist with lab and equipment maintenance and organization

  • Learn proficiency with multiple product lines

  • Demonstrate proficiency with small and large diameter fiber

  • Work with fiber optic and free-space optical components.

  • Operate fiber fusion splicers, fiber re-coaters and fiber cleavers

  • Support Lean Initiatives including 3S weekly & 6S monthly activities.

  • Demonstrate ability to adapt and learn

  • Assist with documentation as needed

  • Ensure a safe work environment and cultivate safe behaviors

  • Must be eligible to obtain an active US Security Clearance

  • Must be a U.S. citizen




Education and Work Experience:


  • Technical Associates degree or Certificate in Laser Electro Optics or related discipline preferred

  • 3+ years of closely related opto-mechanical, electronics assembly, or test experience.

  • Ability to follow work instructions, interpret optical and electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, engineering plans and specifications as required.

  • Experience with hand tools and power tools, soldering equipment, vacuum systems and electrical equipment.

  • Requires experience in testing digital and/or analog systems. Ability to read drawings and use measurement instruments.

  • Knowledge of fiber optic and free-space optical components preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel) required.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to effectively interact with cross-functional groups.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
