Role Summary

Responsible for supporting and maintaining various processes of the Cigna-HealthSpring (CHS) Compliance department related to data validation, analytics and automation. The Senior Specialist will perform data collection, mining and analytics to support compliance audits, monitoring activities, and risk assessment; provide statistical data trends to ensure compliance with established benchmarks; and support the automation of key compliance processes that are currently performed manually.

The Senior Specialist will work with the Compliance Audit and Monitoring teams to perform more targeted sampling and analysis. The Senior Specialist will also work with CHS' IT department to automate various functions, including work necessary to support an annual Data Validation Audit required by CMS.

To be successful, this candidate must exhibit superior analytical, communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This compliance team member must be adept at working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. S/he will promote an enterprise-wide culture of compliance and provide first-rate support within the Compliance Department and across the business units.

Responsibilities


  • Reports to the Data Measurement & Reporting Manager within CHS' Compliance Department.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to apply data analytics tools and techniques to provide more in-depth audit testing, including data extraction, development of queries and scripts, review/analysis of results, and communication of conclusions to key stakeholders.

  • Develop automated ways for Compliance to continuously monitor business functions to provide real-time assurances of ongoing compliance or to identify areas of non-compliance to be addressed timely.

  • Create custom reports, some of which are complex, using multiple data sources, using a reporting product such as MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Tableau, etc. to support business functions.

  • Use data visualization techniques to help executives and business owners interpret and make decisions responding to emerging trends obscured by large amounts of data.

  • Handle multiple and competing priorities by planning, executing and reporting on task progress.

  • Provide after hours and weekend production support as needed during internal and government audit preparation and universe, samples and tracer report responses.

  • Build relationships with other analytics functions across the enterprise.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or equivalent training.

  • Experienced in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

  • Certifications in MCSE in either Business Intelligence or Data Management & Analytics a plus.

  • Certifications in Tableau 10 Certified Professional a plus.

  • Strong project management skills and comfort in ability to create and achieve success by negotiating and problem-solving in complex organizations / highly matrix management environments.

  • Demonstrated experience in informatics & data exchange, particularly using healthcare and clinical data.

  • Experience extracting meaningful insight from data.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytic skills required.

  • Strong problem solving skills required.

  • Strong and confident oral and written communication skills required
