Overview

CAES is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support Operations at our sprawling plant in Lansdale, PA. We offer comprehensive benefits coverage on day 1, competitive salary, a work schedule that allows every other Friday off, generous PTO, and 11 paid holidays per year.

This role is responsible for providing engineering guidance on design solutions in a fast-paced environment, supporting our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) area, focusing on customer needs.

Your capabilities will be key to optimizing all SMT equipment and optimizing production flow, creating and maintaining process documentation, inspecting and assessing defective hardware in support of the production function on technical issues to ensure achievement of program requirements.

Other activities will include insutrial engineering efforts and continuous improvement. Occasional travel as needed, up to 10%.


Responsibilities


  • Applies manufacturing engineering standards, principles and techniques to generate creative technical solutions on the fabrication, assembly, and integration of complex electro-mechanical assemblies with focus on surface mount, printed circuit board assemblies.

  • Establishes and maintains production routings and detailed assembly work instructions.

  • Supports production by resolving technical issues with engineering.

  • Leads or assists with Industrial Engineering initiatives.

  • Assists in the development of production methods and processes, bids and proposals.

  • Prepares estimates of tooling requirements for fabrication, assembly, integration, test, and other manufacturing labor content by analyzing drawings, models, sketches, or engineering descriptions.

  • Assists/Leads in equipment and production floor layout activities to promote an efficient flow of product and minimize production lead times through various assembly operations.

  • Assists in capital equipment requirements planning, develops ROI analysis reports, prepares capital equipment requests, and documents/maintains equipment operating procedures.

  • Ensures conformance with standard processes and procedures and verifies the product design for Design for Manufacturability (DFM). Supports new product introductions thru engineering design reviews and production implementation.

  • May be assigned the engineering responsibility for a project or part of a project depending upon size, scope and complexity.

  • Assists in the monitoring of daily production activities and recommends/implements product and/or process improvements to enhance the efficiency of operations.

  • Practices continuous improvement methodologies including lean manufacturing, root cause problem solving, value stream mapping, etc. to improve production efficiencies and key performance metrics.


Qualifications

Minimum:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering).

  • Eight (8) + years' experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within a manufacturing environment with focus on SMT.

  • Five (5) + years' experience programming and supporting SMT processes, included (but not limited to) solder paste deposition by stencil printing, solder dispensing, pick and place equipment, wave solder, reflow ovens.

  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).

  • This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred:


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience with industrial engineering prinicples.

  • Aerospace or Defense Experience.

  • Electro-Mechanical product experience.

  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques and principles.HAHA

  • Experience with creation and optimization of reflow soldering profiles.

  • Experience with MS Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
