CPM is a department within the College of Continuing Education at the University of Oklahoma. We provide public sector agencies, staff, service providers, clients and community partners training, research and consultant support for professional and programmatic development.
The Instructional Systems Designer provides services to publicly funded clients of the Outreach Center for Public Management. The Instructional Systems Designer is responsible for the technical design, development and evaluation of training content for traditional and blended learning courses, online learning and related programs. The position will conduct needs analysis of performance goals, target audience, training needs, and technology options, evaluate existing training content/materials and research new content/materials. The position will work with development teams to design and develop the online learning programs, create design documents, content outlines, storyboards, multimedia scripts and other supporting documents. Position will design and develop courses using the latest learning theory and strategies appropriate to learners needs and to support other performance support learning interventions to extend learning beyond the classroom. Position must be able to foster innovation, drive execution, focus on the customer, collaborate effectively with others, solve problems creatively, and demonstrate high integrity. 

Required Education: Bachelor Degree OR equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:


  • 24-36 months of project management, technical writing, instructional design or adult learning/development

Skills:


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite software

  • Ability to design at a systems level to support a comprehensive learning system

  • Knowledge and ability to integrate instructional technologies

  • Thorough understanding of adult learning theory

  • Ability to lead and engage instructional design staff/teams

  • Experience defining and reporting on evaluation measures.

  • Experience evaluating and providing feedback on instructional content

Certifications: None 

Advertised Physical Requirements:Ability to engage in repetitive motions including movements of the hands, wrists or fingers. Ability to touch including finger dexterity. Ability to speak including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others. Ability to hear including receiving detailed information orally or making fine discriminations in sound.

 

Departmental Preferences:


  • Master's degree or higher in instructional design, instructional psychology, instructional technology or related field
