We are seeking a Geologist with excellent interpersonal skills to join either our Hanover, MD or Newtown, PA office. The position requires a background in quantitative hydrogeology. You should be experienced in groundwater flow and transport modeling (analytical/mathematical/numerical), developing conceptual site models, characterizing hydrogeologic systems, and performing/analyzing aquifer tests. #LI-JC1

Office responsibilities include:


  • Assisting with writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and presentations
  • Conducting project-related research (historical data, regulations, etc.)
  • Preparing periodic status/program reports
  • Production of figures, maps, and graphical summaries of data trend
  • Working with project teams, clients, and regulatory officials
  • Data collection, management, and interpretation
  • Analytical calculations and resource evaluations
  • Aquifer test analysis
  • Mathematical interpretation of hydrogeologic/hydrologic data
  • Development of conceptual site models
  • Development and calibration of groundwater flow models and use of coupled reactive transport flow models

Additionally, some field work may be required and may include:


  • Oversight of drilling operations (soil logging and installing water wells, monitoring wells and/or soil borings)
  • Soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling
  • Aquifer testing
  • Water level surveys
  • Remedial system installation and maintenance

While this position will primarily consist of office-based work, you may spend 10-20% of their time in the field initially. Field work requires a good driving record, willing to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods. Field work will be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes.

Required Qualifications:


  • MS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Civil Engineering/Hydrology, Environmental Science or related discipline
  • Groundwater flow and fate and transport modeling coursework, software proficiency, and/or experience (e.g., MODFLOW, Groundwater Vistas, MT3DMS, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 40-Hour OSHA Training
  • 2 years of consulting experience
  • Programming skills (Fortran, Python, R, C , etc.)
