The Senior Systems Analyst applies extensive knowledge of systems analysis concepts, best practices and procedures. They evaluate business requirements and provides functional and technical expertise to formulate recommendations and solutions to meet and exceed business needs. Solutions proposed must be streamlined, efficient, and cost-effective. The Senior Systems Analyst will facilitate and coordinate with various groups (IT and Business Units) to formulate system designs according to IT standards and procedures. The Senior Systems Analyst is responsible for the documentation of project artifacts, as well as, obtaining client and IT management approvals. They perform analysis and troubleshooting of production issues by identifying problems, root causes and recommending solutions.

Essential Functions for this role include:


  • Gathers and documents business requirements from business users and/or clients using various techniques such as process flows, business rules, use cases and business specifications as appropriate for the task

  • Translates business requirements into technical requirements and design for developers

  • Communicate with the customer in technical/non-technical terms, understand their business requirements, and provide suitable solutions

  • Assists with business impact assessments, communicates priorities, project status, plans and issues to management.

  • Provides high level estimates for work requests submitted to IT for evaluation

  • Identifies and recommends improvements to new and existing applications. Ensures that systems documentation is updated according to standards.

  • Defines tests plans and scripts and perform functional testing and may coordinate user-acceptance testing. Works with clients, project managers, developers, and DBAs on a frequent basis.

  • Stays up to date on the latest IT trends in requirements gathering, analysis and documentation

  • Stays informed on the latest technology trends in the industry

  • Drive process definition, re-engineering, improvement, and gap analysis of current/to-be processes for identified areas with key customer sponsors and stakeholders

  • Other duties as assigned.

If you have the following credentials, we encourage you to apply:


  • 7+ years’ experience in the development of specifications for the construction of application systems. Ideal candidate is a person who has a strong programming background and has subsequently progressed into business and systems requirements gathering and analysis

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including project-related user interview skills

  • Strong understanding of different requirements gathering practices and the ability to apply this understanding to generate appropriate Functional, Non-functional, and Technical requirements.

  • Effective interpersonal skills

  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks simultaneously within time requirements

  • Strong SQL Skills

  • Familiarity with mainframe technologies

  • Knowledge of object-oriented methodology

  • Understanding of client server and internet-based technologies
