PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must understand installation and configuration of Windows based operating systems, including the ability to modify, customize and capture installation images to function with SE/Foxboro software and hardware.
• Must understand how to optimize the security of operating systems by the application of local system features and application policies and settings
• Must be familiar with the use of Microsoft TFS/MTM for creation and logging of Test Plans, Test Cases and test results.
• Should be familiar with computer hardware and peripheral components, options and optimizations for industrial computing environments.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and resolve complex workstation and server hardware and software related problems.
• Must interface and effectively communicate with a variety of other groups, including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and Service engineering teams.
• Must actively participate in team decision situations by presenting valid facts, industry recommendations, opinions and points of view.
• Must be proficient in documentation creation and editing, including understanding of revision control.
• Must function independently and adapt to well to change in priorities.
• Must be capable of functioning in a teaching role to others in a respectful manner.
• Must be accepting of a wide mix of individuals and cultures that could be encountered daily

Skills & Experience:

• A seasoned engineer with broad development experience (8 years)
• Experience with TFS
• Experience with off-shore development and geographically dispersed teams
• Ability to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways
• Ability to understand complex systems and propose workable solutions to design problems
• Familiarity with distributed process control systems a plus
• Familiarity with operating system internals a plus
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and Microsoft SDL a plus

• Principal Software Developers are team players, have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, have above average self-confidence and professional business acumen, are self-starters, are self-sufficient, can multi-task, and will not require extensive supervision or training
• Ability to influence others to achieve results within the technical team and across other teams
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, strategic partners and customers

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related discipline required.
