Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Serves as a member of the President/CEO's senior leadership team, providing strategic leadership in
the areas of Head Start, ECRN+, Juvenile Justice, and childcare. Leads assigned departments in
developing and implementing programs which support objectives in the association's strategic plan.
Researches and presents potential funding sources that support these programs; and ensures
operational compliance with awards granted.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:
1. Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff
and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy
living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
2. Works with direct reports to determine goals and objectives, scope, feasibility, and funding
needs for programs; identifies and researches corporate, foundation, and government sources
of funding which meet association's needs.
3. Monitors program budgets for direct reports, while assisting with budget creation, fundraising,
and managing needed adjustments to their budgets.
4. Provides ongoing supervision of each program area including child care, Head Start, ECRN+,
and Juvenile Justice.
5. Assists each program lead with partner and community relationships, contracts, and other
actions that support a thriving partner relationship.
6. Oversees the collection of demographic information and program outcome information for
child care, Head Start and ECRN+ programs in order to provide reporting to funders and the
YMCA board of directors.
7. Negotiates contracts with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Head Start for
child care funding and subsequently monitors such funding.
8. Serves as liaison to the Region V Office of Head Start, ensuring that monthly reporting and
semi-annual reporting deadlines are met.
9. Works with CEO, CFO, Head Start Grant Administrator and Head Start Director to fulfill Head
Start Performance Standards related to Head Start governance.
10. Serves on State of Ohio Education and Child Care Committees, and City of Columbus Early
Childhood Funding Committee.
11. Provides direction to assigned staff in the performance of their duties, establishing
work priorities in achieving strategic and operating plan goals; prepares and manages
associated budgets.
12. Serves as a resource and participates as a leader/member of various staff committees
including Executive Team, Senior Leadership Team and the Anti-Racism Council.
13. Serves as key liaison for abuse prevention with Praesidium and YUSA. Leads a cross
departmental team of individuals focused in this area while completing necessary
organizational and national abuse prevention efforts and initiatives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages five subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 30-50 employees in the following

programs and departments: Head Start; Child Care; Juvenile Justice; and the Early Childhood
Resource Network+. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these
units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and
applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning,
assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees;
addressing complaints and resolving problems.
