Digital Anchor and Correspondent, PBS NewsHour


Full-time, Regular


Reports to: Managing Editor, Digital and the Senior Producer, Content and Special Projects


ABOUT THE ROLE


You'll work with a full-time producer to deliver stories in close communication and coordination with the digital leadership team. This will often mean produced and live video packages, but you will work with editors and producers across digital teams to tailor your reporting to audiences on our website and social platforms, too.The primary focus of your time will be your digital work, but this role also brings newopportunity to bridge the NewsHour's on air and online work and audiences. You willappear on the PBS NewsHour broadcast with original reports, sometimes in the same segments produced for our online audiences but also in segments designed specifically for our broadcast.


YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS


You'll get to know your digital and broadcast colleagues and get to know the workflows. You'll establish key relationships with your peers, while working with senior leadership through participation in editorial planning meetings to develop story ideas and participate in planning. You'll report a variety of stories and live events for digital immediately and increasingly for broadcast as well. Through these 90 days you will further define your voice as a reporter online and as the face of PBS NewsHour online. You'll have a variety of stories skillfully produced and aired online and on broadcast.


WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE


You are regularly contributing ideas for digital stories, series and live coverage. You bring vibrancy and terrific ideas to pitch meetings. You will work smoothly with your producer and digital leadership to executive and deliver these products flawlessly. Your demonstrated passion for knowing the ideal way to produce content and ability to seamlessly jump from project to project will enable you to flourish. You've developed trust with executive leadership. You will work with senior leadership to contribute to the PBS NewsHour nightly program, appearing on both digital and broadcast with regularity, with meaningful, memorable reporting.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING



  • Experience video reporting, scripting and live coverage.

  • Ability to shoot and edit using non-linear editing programs is a plus.

  • Experience creating digital-first packages, and filing pieces for multiple platforms.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in coverage for a national audience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in field and studio production of news for broadcast and/or digital.

  • Demonstrated ability to work across teams and acollaborative attitude, especially under deadline pressure.
