Position Purpose

















This position is accountable for full responsibility of daily image records maintenance for all of Renown Health System. The other main responsibility is Patient and Physician communication of imaging information within the HIPPA guidelines.A Digital Imaging Information Specialist staff member provides coverage for Release of Information functions, including written and verbal requests for health information.Duties include:Opening mail, verification of proper authorization, using the electronic Master Patient Index system to obtain medical record numbers and encounter sites, using PACS system to locate electronic health information, , billing for copies of health information when applicable, entering all releases into the electronic Release of Information module, answering telephone calls related to the release of information function and assisting walk-in customers at the Release of Information location.Releases are made following HIPAA, CMS regulations, federal and state laws and the Renown Health Release of Information policies.


















Nature and Scope

















The incumbent has the authority and responsibility to , modify patient demographics, merge patients and make major changes to patient data in PACS, Epic and DICOM functions related to imaging. The incumbent works directly with physicians offices and their staff in training and use of the Magic Web application. The incumbent develops and ensures appropriate internal and external customer communication and support.



The Digital Imaging Information Specialist staff is responsible for processing information requests from various sources including patient, continuum of care, legal, insurance, governmental and audit requests.The Digital Imaging Information Specialists staff ensures the correct releases are obtained to comply with all federal and state regulations related to releasing medical information.



The incumbent works with patients to ensure way finding.



The incumbent operates and or supports the following imaging equipment and related machinery: Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS), Magic View 300s and Magic View 1000s, The Magic Web, Dry View processor, CD burners, Digitizers, Evercore and CV. The incumbent must also be able to answer a high volume of phone calls and troubleshoot problems that may occur.



Processing Walk-in and Interdepartmental Requests for Information:


Sorts, opens and reviews all requests to ensure HIPAA compliance.Returns non-compliant requests to the requestor with authorization requirements.Processes all patient third-party, and Centralized Business Office requests for medical record and imaging information.



The incumbent has the authority to call in appropriate imaging repair service when needed, to contribute input to the management team and help in the decision making process on any topic deemed to be important at the time.



This position is further challenged to maintain accuracy, communicate effectively with different types of people, to function efficiently and pleasantly under pressure, to identify and maintain priorities and to respond to simultaneous requests and demands from a variety of individuals while remaining courteous and professional. High standards of courtesy, performance, diplomacy and respect for confidentiality are essential. The incumbent may be required to document, both written and verbally, assigned responsibilities at the request of the PACS/RIS Support Supervisor.



This position has the authority to solve problems following established company guidelines.Decisions that must be referred to a leader are:Release of Information situations not covered in the Standards of Work or policies, matters that can negatively impact the company, time off requests, sick time, work schedules, interoffice problems, etc.



Performs other related function, as needed for all Renown Imaging facilities.



This position does not provide patient care.
