Primary Function of Position:

Coniribute broadly to the Product Development team, responsible for machine learning, advanced analytics, and new technology development focused on surgical workflow and performance for next generation robotic surgery platforms.

The successful candidate must excel in a high-energy, focused, small-team environment, be able to initiate and drive product implementation efforts. This position will serve as the primary technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) and solutions architecture support for all product, technology and development activities for defined product and services.

As part of the Product Development team, immediate responsibilities include:


  • Work collaboratively with hospital IT and clinicians and Intuitive sales, digital operations, customer service and technical support to successfully onboard new products and services in service to the customer's goals.
  • Provide operational and application support directly to the customer.
  • Deliver training and assist in developing new training curricula for new products and enhanced functionality.
  • Perform unit and integration testing of desired configurations.
  • Provide feedback to our product management and marketing teams for improved customer communications and product enhancements.
  • Understand and communicate customer requirements, as well as work with internal and external technical teams to define a solution, and drive execution.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and enhancement.
  • Provide Tier I/II technical support by working closely with Customers, Technical Support and Field Service to remotely analyze and troubleshoot complex network problems.
  • Effectively use customer management system to enter and track complaints.
  • Communicate product/service architectural design, security and data controls, compliance, and features and benefits of the product / service through meetings, presentations, and reports to customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with team members and clients.
  • Support ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Skill/Job Requirements:

Competency Requirements: (Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience).

In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must have:


  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; or minimum 6+ years equivalent experience acceptable with 4+ years' experience working in the medical device industry.
  • 4+ years of experience working in a hospital operating room supporting medical devices, digital ORs or software as a medical device.
  • 4+ years of experience in implementing and supporting medical device solutions with CT and 3D imaging experience as a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience working directly with clinicians and medical staff.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • 2+ years project management experience, certification a plus (e.g. PMP).
  • Working understanding of hospital's diagnostic modalities and patient record systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic organization.
  • Knowledge of network technologies and basic troubleshooting TCP/IP / HTTP(S) protocols.
  • Ability to handle a wide variety of demanding and complex issues.
  • Learn quickly, effectively manage workloads and handle rapidly changing priorities effectively as a part of a team and individually. Thoroughness in completing tasks is imperative.
  • Willingness to work within a Global Support Team providing support wide range of time zones.
  • Exceptional customer communication, with the ability to discuss clinical or technical issues with a wide range of audiences (from clinicians to C-suite).
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (75%)
