Summary of Job Duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
* Manage and direct the Custodial Department including hiring and terminating employees as well as Quality Control of services. Work closely with the Director of Housekeeping to improve cleanliness of facilities.
* Manage and direct the Grounds Maintenance department to meet deadlines and to keep overall maintenance of equipment at the highest level for operation.
* Develop and execute plans to improve landscaping around campus within the operating budget.
* Meet with department heads concerning work project status and solve problems associated with these projects.
* Assist with preparing and monitoring the physical plant operating budget.
* Review and approve purchase orders and requisitions.
* Prepare bids and monitor service contracts.
* Prepare reports and make recommendations of personnel changes to expedite work flow to improve department efficiency.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include the formal education of a Bachelor's degree with a major in industrial management, industrial technology, or related field plus 3 years of experience in plant maintenance operations with two years in a managerial capacity. Knowledge, abilities and skills needed are as follows:

• Knowledge of facility cleanliness and how to maintain cleanliness at a high standard.


• Knowledge of plants, chemicals and landscaping principles.


• Knowledge of the general maintenance and preventative maintenance of mowers, string trimmers, tractors and other equipment.


• Knowledge of budgetary practices and procedures.


• Ability to formulate and interpret policy and procedures to meet organizational goals and objectives.


• Ability to read, interpret and evaluate plans, specifications and other technical reports.
