In leading the Finance Operations organization and participating on the Finance and IT Lead Team, this position will partner with senior leadership to ensure priorities are aligned with corporate objectives and financial controls. This position plays an integral part in internal management reporting, the budgeting and forecasting process, and partnering with Operations to enhance the company's processes as well as analyzing growth and profit opportunities. The role will ensure best practices and improve processes with the Mill Controllers and direct the development and preparation of medium and long-term financial plans as well as annual budgets, shorter-term forecasts and variance analysis and business reviews. The Director, Mill Finance Operations will have experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. You must have had prior exposure to cost accounting environments, inventory planning and ERP systems.
Key Accountabilities:
Manage accounting and reporting both internal & external
Ensuring deadlines are met, resources managed and issues are resolved
Preparing memorandum and presentations of corporate financial results
Continuous improvement of business process and controls
Direct continuous improvement in organization and process effectiveness
Prioritization of initiatives & plans
Liaison with IT organization
Responsible for internal management reporting for the entire organization
Responsible for the preparation of short-term forecasts, annual plans, and medium/long term plans
Responsible for coordinating, consolidation, and final preparation of the Board of Directors presentations and non-SEC required reporting
Directs the roles and activities of the Mill Controllers (~40 total employees)
Supports the SVP & GM, Sheeting & Operations Controller in driving manufacturing initiatives to achieve EBITDA improvements
Assist in streamlining monthly close process, focusing on improvement at the Mill locations
Responsible for the consolidation of all mill manufacturing financial performance, analyzing the data to ensure consistency among the locations
Partners with Supply Chain Finance to ensure adherence across both organizations
Manages consistency of the standard cost file, as well as standard costs for the S&OP database
Performs monthly analysis of the major material commodities, analyzing the prior period trends and forward estimates to determine the impact on the business unit
Ensures consistency of our EBITDA initiatives
Performs Capital analyses for the company; calculating the ROI, payback and impact for capital projects
Manages the analysis of Cost of Goods Sold on a monthly and quarterly basis, providing guidance for any fluctuations between periods to ensure forward looking guidance
Directs the manufacturing function during the preparation of the annual budget
Ensure talent management and development of all finance employees at the sites including, but not limited to, succession planning, workforce planning, recruitment, retention, etc. (~40 total employees)
Handles special projects as assigned
Job Requirements
Minimum Required Experience and Education:
10-15 years of experience in corporate level financial role in a multi-location company in a capital intensive industry required
BA/BS in Accounting or Finance required
MBA preferred
Ability to identify and take ownership of issues
Must possess strong leadership abilities
Highly analytical
Comfortable challenging the status quo
Have the ability to revert between a tactical and strategic mindset.
Ability to lead senior level discussions with executives and Operations senior management
Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft suite, COGNOs, and the ability to navigate ERP systems (preferably SAP)
Travel: 15%-20%
