Retail Sales Manager, Natural Channel at Danone North America

About the role:

Danone North America has an amazing opportunity for a Retail Sales Manager located in Colorado. Responsible for managing the Natural Channel Tier II Independent Business, developing relationships with Key Decision Makers (KDMs), and working 3 Retail Sales Reps (RSR's). The manager will be responsible for owning/managing the Tier II Merchandising Plan, Kantar inputs, deduction resolution, for the purpose of meeting or exceeding sales targets. For the Retail Team, responsible for owning/managing scorecard activity, creating/presenting slides of performance updates to leadership, and working in the field at store to ensure the team is meeting or exceeding sales-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

You Will Be Accountable For:


  • Account Manager for UNFI and KeHE Tier II Independent Customers

    • Promotional Planning for all Tier II

    • Kantar Management with the Natural Channel Analysts

    • Deduction Management

    • Field Sales Linkage

    • Account Calls and Communication (in coordination with the Direct Retail Field Team)

    • New Item Sell-In and Distribution (in coordination with the Direct Retail Field Team)

    • Shelving

    • Merchandising

    • Pricing



  • Manage Direct Retail Team - responsible for Hiring, Recruiting, and Developing RSR's

    • Coach and develop Direct Reps to meet/ exceed KPI expectations on a consistent basis. Total approximate 230 stores.

    • Reps Market Areas (3): California/West Coast, Colorado/Midwest, Florida/East Coast

    • Own score carding, templates, processes, and creating objective questions to drive retail KPI Performance.

    • Lead blitz projects, which may include variety of accounts (e.g. Drive Points of Distribution - voids/new items)

    • Manage Market Tours

    • Manage POS for direct reps (e.g., IRCs, danglers, posters, etc.)

    • Compile/Showcase Best in Class Wins/Learnings on regular basis utilizing in-house applications.



  • Store Level Sales Execution: Train RSR's to execute and close sales calls for assigned store accounts in respective area to achieve target sales goals.

    • Manage the timely execution of all sales programs and initiatives to ensure maximum sales and profitability for the Danone and the retailer.

    • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to increase sales, space and productivity in an account while maintaining satisfactory customer service.

    • Maintain appropriate product inventory levels, and ensure account meets company merchandising standards.

    • Coordinate and execute market sales blitzes with the RSR's.



  • Customer Development:

    • Collaboratively work with respective DNA Sales Leadership and in effort to build strategic plans to drive growth opportunities at retail.

    • Identify and build rapport with accounts' operation leaders who influence retail execution



  • Category Development:
    • Translate category story (provided by DNA's Category Management team) into well-developed action plan geared towards account to drive retail execution. Leverage and engage necessary resources to execute action plan to grow volume through incremental retail activities (e.g., driving share of shelf, category space expansion initiatives, displays, etc)

The base compensation range for this position is $100,000-$125,000.
