JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for providing daytoday direction to Laboratory Assistants to achieve optimal workflow (both specimen and data) into the technical departments with minimum of error. Supports the registration of patient, ordering of tests, processing of specimens and placement of prepared specimens onto analyzers and the reagent management of the automated analyzers under the supervision of the Processing Supervisor or designee.

SCHEDULES

With variations due to hospital site and department, this position may require censusdriven scheduling flexibility (additional/fewer shifts), holiday coverage, floating, being placed oncall, weekend coverage, and shift rotations.

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently:

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

Preferred: Biological science coursework.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum: Ability to use computers, computerinterfaced equipment, or software applications to perform work duties.

YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum:

• 2 years of Laboratory Assistant work experience, OR
• 2 years of relevant experience in an academic laboratory setting, OR
• 1 year of Laboratory Assistant experience AND an Associate's Degree in a scientific field or 2 years of college science coursework.
