Job Description:

Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, has an immediate opening for a College Access Programs Coordinator.  Reporting to the Director of the Meelia Center, this full-time, year-round, exempt position assists the Director of Saint Anselm College’s Meelia Center in the management and oversight of Meelia Center College Access Programs, including the Remote Tutoring Collaborative and Access Academy.  All programs work in collaboration with the Manchester School District and have a focus on K-12 students who are from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in higher education. (e.g. first generation college, low-income, refugee, immigrant, and students not currently living at home.)

The College Access Programs Coordinator will oversee the planning and day to day operations of Access Academy campus and community programming. Special focus of position is the training, development and support of student instructors, tutors and student support managers, program and partnership development, and assessment. The position contributes to the personal and professional development of Meelia staff, as well as Access volunteers and community engaged learners; including training, supervision and reflection. Supports the Meelia Center’s work to expand the engagement of Saint Anselm faculty and staff, student groups and residence halls in Meelia’s College Access Programs.

Primary Responsibilities:  Plan, organize, coordinate, and implement Meelia college access programs.  Maintain and grow partnership with the Manchester School District and important community partners and stakeholders to recruit participants and ensure success of the programs including strong relationships with local ethnic communities. Engage with participants’ families and support networks to facilitate participant success in both in-school and after-school programming.  Build and maintain relationships with participants to support engaged learning, retention, successful completion, and re-enrollment. Assist with training and support of Meelia Center student staff in professional areas including curriculum development, classroom and behavior management, lesson planning and delivery, student development and assessment of learning. Develop and coordinate student leadership within College Access Programs, which includes training and supporting past and current high school participants to present their Access learning to their peers and to relevant community partners. Support Access Student Advisory Board efforts related to Access student recruitment, retention and success. Manage and disseminate all data related to Meelia Community Programs, including attendance and student performance, recommendations regarding high school ELO credits, and program delivery and impact. Assist with the training and support of Meelia Center student staff in their responsibilities as they relate to the recruitment, placement, and support of engaged students in Access programs. Work with the Meelia Center Director and Assistant Director to ensure the effective utilization of the student staff and effective engagement of students in Meelia Programs, including reflection. Assist Saint Anselm College students as they develop a plan for community engagement that enhances their personal, spiritual, and career goals. Contribute to the promotion of engagement in Meelia programs through various public
relations, and web and social media development.

Master degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree required, plus at least 2-3 years managing an after school or educational program, preferably involving the engagement of college students. Ideal candidates will possess knowledge of campus/community engagement principles, and have experience with student leadership development and support. Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Requires effective communication with local community agencies and non-profit organizations. Strong writing, organizational, planning, administrative, and public speaking skills needed. Also requires commitment to community engagement and a solid understanding of the mission and goals of a small Catholic, liberal arts college, combined with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of College staff and students, and to represent the Meelia Center and Saint Anselm College to a variety of campus and outside constituents.
