VISION: The Dispatch Driver contributes to the profitable growth of ComTrans by ensuring the effective communication and coordination of driver inquiries and on-time transportation and maintaining a professional relationship with internal and external customers.

BASIC FUNCION:

Utilizing the ComTrans' Dispatch System, this position 'coordinates' transportation

services for clients under a variety of contracts, transporting clients from their homes,

health care facilities and other various locations. Dispatch is the liaison between our

clients and drivers ensuring timely pick-ups and drop-offs.

EMPLOYEE STATUS: Regular, Full-time, hourly/non-exempt.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Graduate or equivalent preferred but not required.

Age: All ComTrans employees must be at least 18 years old, all driving positions are required to be at least 21 years old as required by insurance. Exceptions may be made for non-driving positions on a case-by-case basis and dependent upon the position and its responsibilities.

Valid AZ driver's license.

Approved by our insurance company as a driver.

Company Provided Training/Certifications

Have or be able to obtain a level one fingerprint clearance card

First Aid/CPR

Crisis Prevention and Intervention.

Complete ComTrans Driver Certification Training Program.

Additional Certifications: Some positions at ComTrans require additional certifications when operating vehicles with a design capacity for 8 or more passengers.

Must be certified through Comtrans to drive 15-passenger and wheel chair vans.

Able to pass a Department of Transportation physical exam initially and upon expiration.

Complete ComTrans certification program to operate a vehicle with a design of 8 or more passengers.

Certified as a wheelchair driver

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Employee must:

Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Be able to utilize computer programs such as Microsoft Office Programs, internal dispatch system, Nextel radios and office phone.

Provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.

Be detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy.

Use sound judgment; make timely decisions and solve problems.

Possess exceptional follow-up skills.

Work well under pressure

Knowledge of mapping or routing systems a plus

Physical Requirements: All ComTrans employees must be able to fill in as a driver when needed

Ability to stand, climb stairs/steps, escort clients to and from destination, kneel, crouch, reach and extend arms.

Able to grasp objects such as steering wheel, car seats, etc

Sit in a driving or sitting position from 1 to up to 12 hours.

Able to get in and out of vehicles multiple times per day

Assisting students/clients in and out of the vehicles multiple times each day.

Able to bend, kneel and secure wheelchairs and clients multiple times per day.

Ability to lift or move at least 40 pounds

Ability to carry, lift and install child seats into vehicles and secure children into child seats.

When required, able to pass a Department of Transportation physical exam initially and upon expiration.

Able to perform vehicle pre and post trip inspections daily and on any vehicle

Able to work in a variety of environments; inside and outside, able to tolerate a variety of climate changes and conditions,

Ability to perform sedentary work involving sitting most of the time and for long periods of time.

Able to perform fingering activities such as typing.

Perform repetitive activities such as typing, using a telephone

Must have adequate visual acuity as required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, expansive reading.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

On-going communications with drivers and clients

Provide high customer service within ComTrans and with all clients

Communicate with driver's appropriate use of child restraints.

Update dispatch system with driver completions and notes when needed

Be knowledgeable of all ComTrans' contracts.

Work closely with Routine Manager and drivers communicating driver change in schedule; promptly assigns calls to routine drivers.

View Dispatch Screen throughout day, and advise on assigning calls and Routine Driver routes. This includes transferring calls between drivers, updating driver status, and responding to driver needs. Provide on-going feedback to data entry and routing.

Respond quickly to all client complaints regarding routine drivers, by engaging Dispatch Manager as soon as possible.

Work closely with garage on scheduling vehicles for preventative maintenance and repairs.

Respond to all accidents by following internal accident ComTrans procedures.

Work weekend rotation schedule.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the Dispatch Manager

MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE:

The Program Manager will evaluate the performance contribution and effectiveness of the DSR using the following criteria:

High level of customer service.

Timeliness, accuracy & completion of all duties.

Documentation abilities.

Activities are consistent with company policy.

Level of professionalism with internal and external customers.

Customer Service.
