If you are an Information Technology professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Chanhassen, MN location, you will provide front line PC support for manufacturing operations in Chanhassen, MN and Eden Prairie, MN that generate over $1 billion in sales each year. You will help support custom software running on >600 Windows PCs across various manufacturing lines and be integral to keeping our systems up and running. As a member of our Manufacturing Software team, you will also have opportunities to grow into various technologies that span both software and hardware.  

AS A DESKTOP ADMINISTRATOR, YOU WILL: 


  • Respond to software or PC related issues in our manufacturing lines and fix, triage or escalate them as appropriate

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with our production, technician, and engineering staff

  • Communicate, and coordinate when necessary, floor support activities and initiatives with our team in Beijing, China

  • Document production support issues and procedures as needed to reduce rework and increase the knowledge on our team

  • Interface with our local and corporate IT teams to resolve and escalate issues when appropriate

  • Help identify innovations that reduce the time or work associated with support tasks

  • Help implement large scale infrastructure projects (e.g., a migration to Windows 10 is a recent example and a large-scale automated backup solution is another)

  • Provide off hours support as needed (this is rare, but does happen periodically)

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • One of the following is required:


    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field and zero (0) years of experience

    • Associates degree in business or related field and two (2) years of experience


  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft operating systems

  • Basic knowledge of computer networking

  • Proficient with MS Office applications

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States -sponsorship will not be provided for this position. 

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  


 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field and four (4) years of experience

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience troubleshooting problems at other levels of the IT stack (networking, PC hardware, PLCs)

  • Experience using programming/scripting languages to automate routine tasks

  • Experience with Linux administration
