What does a Product Analyst do at GAINSCO?
Ensure overall goals for production and underwriting profitability are met by analyzing premium rates, loss experience, and retention and providing summaries of analysis to the Director to assist in the decision-making process.
Identifies and solves complex problems by collecting and analyzing statistical, financial and competitive information, including internal and external data, to help make critical business decisions.
Design and maintain business monitoring reports.
Detect data problems and communicate issues.
Answer questions from report users.
Provide improvement ideas on streamlining and automating processes.
Identifies trends, factors, issues, competitive intel and rate level indications relative to product reviews
What is required?
Education:
Bachelor’s degree, with preference in a quantitative analytical field such as Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Data Science, Programming, Finance and Economics; preference is also given to those who are actively pursuing CAS actuarial designations through continuing coursework and examinations.
Completion of at least one actuarial exam
Experience:
2 or more years of Property/Casualty Insurance actuarial pricing/reserving work experience with working knowledge or actuarial pricing/reserving methods is preferred.
Prefer insurance or other relevant work experience
Other skills and abilities:
REQUIRE advanced skills in and mastery of Microsoft Excel
Strongly prefer experience in or exposure to VBA, R, AS400, SQL, SAS, Python, Microsoft Power BI, and other MS Office products
Excellent organizational skills; keen attention to detail
Advanced skills in performing mathematical calculation
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
The ability to gather information and express ideas effectively to individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.
Understanding of non-standard auto insurance is preferred.
Strong analytical skills that include the ability to evaluate both industry and individual company information.
