Job Summary

As a member of the Vistra Energy Network, Security & Voice Services team, the Network & Firewall System Engineer will work closely with senior members of the team to maintain the integrity of Vistra’s internal network, including customer-facing hosted and cloud environments. The SE will perform the necessary operational tasks related to the maintenance and security of Vistra’s overall network, as well as work with vendors, service providers, and other team members to support cross-functional business needs and align with best practices.

Key Accountabilities

•Establish network & security support processes best suited to support business applications•Assist with change management procedures related to network & security infrastructure•Strong understanding of routing protocols specifically BGP, OSPF and EIGRP •Strong knowledge of IP networks based on multi-vendor environments is required including Cisco (routing & switching), Aruba (wireless) and Palo Alto (security).•Enterprise network support, design, and implementation•Configuration and support of Virtual Private Networks (VPN)•Corporate network support and implementations•Assist with customer network design requests•Create and update network documentation.•Assists various IT departments with troubleshooting of network and security technologies.

Experience, & Skill Requirements

•System analysis experience with an emphasis in information technology.•3-5 years of dedicated network & security experience with Palo Alto Networks•3-5 years of network and/or security administration experience or equivalent combination of work and educational experiences.•3-5 years designing and implementing network and/or security solutions. •Experience working with Payment Card Industry (PCI) and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) regulations.•Advanced knowledge of network and security technologies and concepts. •Certifications in CCNP or Palo Alto ACE, is a big plus.

Key Metrics

•Establish network & security support processes best suited to support business applications•Assist with change management procedures related to network & security infrastructure•Produce monthly metric reports on network & security performance•Ensure service level agreements align with business expectations•Assist in project delivery for all NSV related projects•Problem reporting/resolution as well as plans for disaster recovery and business continuity•Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership of new and different requests
