Description

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Facilities, the Fitness Coordinator will assist in developing and administering comprehensive recreation and sports programs. Those programs will be for a diverse campus community. The Fitness Coordinator will also coordinate the fitness-related programs and events for the department and manage the day-to-day operation of the group fitness and personal training programs. In addition to working in cooperation with the Assistant Director for Fitness and Operations Coordinator to supervise student staff and monitor facility usage and programs.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field preferred. Current American Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or willingness to immediately become certified). Current national group exercise instructor and/or personal training certification (i.e. AACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM, AAAI, or equivalent). Minimum of two years of experience in personal training and/or instructing group fitness. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Excellent interpersonal skills are required with the willingness and ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals both inside and outside of the university

*Excellent customer service skills are required

*Ability to translate and communicate the mission of a complex, urban university

*Ability to persuasively represent University goals to various constituency groups

*Ability to complete paperwork and various forms of documentation

*Demonstrated critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving

Preferred:

*Two years experience working in Campus Recreation
